A chance to support our journey
This summer, our Praise House Project interns will embark on a three-day educational journey through the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, tracing the living traditions that continue to shape our work. Together, we will visit the Penn Center on St. Helena Island, the historic Mary Jenkins Praise House, Bluffton's Heritage Center, Mitchellville Freedom Park, First African Baptist Church in Savannah, and other important sites that tell the story of Black resilience, freedom, and cultural preservation.
This experience is an investment in the next generation of artists, cultural workers, and preservationists. Through this immersive learning experience, our interns will deepen their understanding of the connections between the Praise House tradition, the Ring Shout, Gullah Geechee culture, and our own work preserving Black history and community memory in Atlanta.
You can help make this journey possible. Your support will help cover transportation, lodging, meals, and educational experiences for our interns, ensuring they have the opportunity to learn directly from the people and places that continue to inspire The Praise House Project. Every contribution helps cultivate future leaders committed to preserving and sharing our collective history.
